WELCOME TO ANTAKSHARI FOUNDATION
Antakshari Foundation was registered as a charitable trust under Indian Trusts Act 1882 in December 1996 by few inspired and committed youth who were engaged in rural development for a long time. As the word 'Antakshari' suggests, which means ‘a process which never ends’ in the same way organization tries to develop a new change process out of the learning of earlier ones - a process that carries on from one individual to another. The organization works collectively by building a network with government, community, individuals and civil society. The endeavor of the organization is to contribute to the promotion of a secular, non-discriminatory, non- frightening, transparent and non-hierarchical environment both within and outside the organization. The focus is to work primarily with socially deprived and marginalized groups, poor communities with special focus on children who are vulnerable and living in difficult circumstances.
The team at AF consists of a dedicated team of grassroots leaders who are self motivated, inspired and facilitated as a group of development professionals. The organization believes that the team should be seen as a potential resource, someone who posses sound knowledge & skills. This will enable to make a better and safe protective environment to the children’s who are in difficult circumstances
Currently, this organization is actively operating in three states—namely, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Delhi. In Delhi, the objective of this project is to engage and foster the development of marginalized and most excluded youth who are committed to mutual growth and community well-being. The aim is to establish 12–15 youth groups across one Gram Panchayat in Ajmer and two urban settlements in Northeast Delhi. Through this framework, 1,000 youth and 60 youth leaders—comprising both men and women—will be equipped with the necessary perspectives, skills, opportunities, and support systems required to sustain long-term community action and personal advancement.
The Antakshari Foundation has been working in Beawar since 2008; at that time, it was part of Ajmer district, but now it has been granted separate district status. Since we've been working here for so long, we've identified several issues that contribute to the dropout rate. For example, the area is surrounded by hills, so girls are not allowed to go out of their homes. Furthermore, people from many different castes live here—such as Rawat, Katha, Gujjar, Muslim, Meghwal, etc. These communities belong to the lower strata of society, leading to a high dropout rate. Women and adolescent girls are engaged in farming or animal husbandry, which is a major reason for their dropping out. Girls are working in the fields instead of going to school. Early marriage also prevents girls from enrolling in schools. Overall, lack of education and lack of awareness are the main reasons for dropping out. Our organization is already running the "Pragati Project" in Beawar district. During field visits, it was revealed that approximately 3,600 girls wanted to complete their secondary education, but were unable to do so due to various reasons, including cultural, social, and economic barriers. In the next phase of this project, we will be able to enroll 2,200 adolescent girls.
The organization provides assistance to various departments /agencies, statutory authorities, child protection practitioners, lawyers and other concerned stakeholders for the realization of Child Rights. The organization is also engage in developing IEC material, guidelines and journal.
Antakshari Foundation has recently launched an Education and Learning Centre in Dehradun, uttrakhand specially designed to support children from nomadic and marginalized communities. These children often face multiple barriers that keep them away from schools, leaving them vulnerable to cycles of poverty and exclusion. Recognizing this challenge, the Foundation has created a safe and nurturing space where learning and growth go hand in hand. The centre provides daily early and formal education to more than 25 children, focusing on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy. Along with academics, children are also encouraged to explore creative activities, helping them develop confidence and essential life skills. To ensure overall well-being, the centre offers nutritious meals every day, addressing both health and education needs together. A unique aspect of this initiative is active parental engagement. Regular meetings and interactions with parents ensure that families are part of the learning journey, strengthening their commitment to their children’s education. This approach not only supports children but also builds awareness among parents about the importance of schooling. Through this centre, Antakshari Foundation aims to connect marginalized children with the mainstream education system, empowering them with opportunities to learn, grow, and aspire for a brighter future.
